Transport Mobot for Delivering Mini Pallets to a 3-Floor Tower (Hackathon)
During the Red Robot 48-Hour Hackathon, we were tasked with designing a robot to transport pallets into a tower with 3 levels of delivery zones. The challenge involved working against another team to score points by moving pallets efficiently while also competing for control of a shared crane, which added a strategic layer to the game.
Design Overview
As the co-lead for mechanical design, I focused on developing a robot that could effectively handle the vertical and horizontal movement required to transport pallets.
Our design was inspired by a scissor lift mechanism, which allowed the robot to lift pallets to the higher scoring zones efficiently. I used CAD to design the scissor lift and other essential components, ensuring that the robot met the size constraints and functioned smoothly.
For fabrication, we used laser cutting and 3D printing to create lightweight yet durable parts, and the mechanical system was integrated with an Arduino to control the robot’s movement.
